Hi Glow Girl!
This is something I have been meaning to share with you. As you have probably read from the title, I got a part-time job! This is really exciting for me because I have always had the urge to want to work in a business, especially from a young age. As part of my homeschooling experience, I want to be able to experience lots of different things and getting a chance in the working life is definitely one I am grateful to experience.
Before wiring this post, I have already started my job for a few months now, so now when writing this post, I can share with you what I really think of the working experience.
I am working at a hotel and restaurant in Hertfordshire. I started working only once a week and then I was given a chance to do two days a week. Going to work twice a week is definitely by far the 2 days I look really forward to. It’s also really nice having a part-time job because it breaks up the week for me.
When it was my first day of work it was really daunting and scary but as time went on I was able to settle in.
I was always learning new and exciting things, for example, I was shown how to use the coffee machine, I haven’t yet mastered how to do the patterns but I’m getting there.
Throughout my working journey and still to this day I am still getting loads of challenges that I am learning to tackle, which is helping me grow to become a stronger and more independent girl. As the youngest employee, I need to make sure I am the best waitress I can possibly be. That means always putting the customers first, making sure they are happy with their food and asking them if they need anything else. Small actions like this really make a difference to the customers. I think the most important thing for any job you have, is to make sure you have the right attitude and to do your best for the business and the customers.
From what I have experienced, I definitely can say that working life is very tough and hard but on the other hand, I have learned so many life skills already. I am very lucky to have this opportunity and I am eternally grateful.
If you are reading this and you are trying to either get a part-time or full-time job than the best advice I can give you is if you believe that you are going to be a value to someone’s business than you are more likely to get a better chance of getting the job.
Well, thank you for reading this post I hope you found it interesting to hear my thoughts and opinions on my first ever work experience. 🙂
Lots of love Ella x
